Plane Party Success

The party was a great success! Though Jamie the birthday boy refused to wear his pilot costume on the day.

Here is Jamie with his plane cake. It was a white chocolate mud cake. The body of the cake was baked in a long loaf tin. The wings, engine and tail were made out of biscuit. It was then covered in butter icing, the rolled icing.

Above are the plane shaped vanilla sugar cookies I made.

Here are the vanilla/lemon cupcakes I made. They are coated in blue butter icing, then topped with white chocolate planes.

This is Alex (Jamies older brother) wearing a pilot hat I made him, and sitting with party guests dressed as air hostesses (aren't they gorgeous). I used a basic beret hat pattern to make Alexs hat, and altered it slightly to be higher at the front and lower at the back. I then stitched on embellishments and loosely hand stitched it to a black cap he already had. I used navy fabric from the 2nd hand store for $3. There was about 2 meters so I made all 3 of our boys hats with it. It was a lot cheaper than buying bought hats for $15 each.

Finished Plane Party Invite

Here is the finished invitation I made using a Word template. It was a basic template, and I needed to style it heavily to give it some character. To download the template click here. To view a larger image just click the image below:
